The crowd stands before Pilate, and two men are presented: Jesus, and Barabbas. One is innocent, the other guilty. And yet the crowd cries out for Barabbas to be released. But then I learned something that made this scene even more powerful. The name Barabbas comes from Aramaic: Bar means son Abba means father So Bar-Abba literally means “son of the father.” In that moment, the people chose one “son of the father” to go free, while the true Son of the Father took his place. Jesus stood there, silently accepting what was happening. He stepped into the place of the guilty. He took the place of Barabbas. Compassion Is the True High Fashion ✨🌱 By Natalia Magdalena Botvinjevs “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.” – Jesus (Matthew 9:13) For many years, I didn’t count eating meat as a sacrifice. I wasn’t the one holding the knife. I didn’t kill the animals with my own hands. I simply bought their body parts, like my fallen fathers had taught me. That way of living hardened my heart. I forgot that for the animal, it meant their life — given up not for survival, but for human lust and tradition. I consumed flesh and blood, milk meant for baby calves, and eggs meant to bring new life. I never questioned it. But God did not create mothers to nurse anyone’s children but their own — and only for a time. We have forgotten the sacredness of life and the intent of creation. Once, I lived like a vampire — thinking I could survive without God, yet believing I could not live without animal protein. 🩸🫣 But the Lord, in His mercy, removed the blinders from my eyes.
